Fire Hazard

Fire danger ratings, also known as fire hazards, communicate how easily fires start, how aggressively they spread and how long they burn.

The Municipal District of Fairview No. 136 communicates current fire hazard levels through Alberta Fire Bans. The Municipality will post all alerts (fire advisories, fire restrictions and fire bans) to the website, so the most current and reliable information is always available to the public.

Subscribe to Alberta Fire Bans to be notified of alerts in the Municipal District of Fairview No. 136.

Visit Alberta Wildfire for more information about wildfires, being FireSmart, burning and protection of our provincial forests.

Burn Notifications

When the fire hazard level permits controlled burning, the Municipal District of Fairview No. 136 requires a burn notification be completed before you begin a burn (except for campfires and backyard pit fires) within municipal boundaries.

Burn notifications are not burn permits, and the Municipality does not issue burn permits. A burn notification is forwarded to the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department for their awareness.

To complete a burn notification, please contact the Administration Department by telephone at 780-835-4903 during business hours.
