Economic Development within the Municipality
The MD of Fairview is centrally located within the Peace Country. We are approximately 110 km northeast of Grande Prairie on Highway 2. And from our provincial capital, Edmonton, we are approximately 565 km northwest. Our neighbours are Clear Hills County to the north, Birch Hills County to the south Municipal District of Peace to the east, and Saddle Hills County to the west. Our 2006 Census indicates that we have 1432 residents. Most are very active in agricultural activities such as grain farming (wheat, barley, canola and oats), dairy production and apiaries. This accounts for 80% of the activity on the 1390 square kilometres of land the MD covers. And we also have agricultural supply & service industries, building contractors, excavation , communications, nurseries, trucking, welding and oilfield service enterprises located in our area. The Town of Fairview is our full service urban centre. From retail and grocery stores, to all of your medical professionals, accountants, and lawyers, recreational facilities and education, Fairview is a place to live and enjoy life. It is a clean, quiet and well maintained community of 3200 people.
